For quite a long time, I have wanted to become a volunteer photographer for an animal rescue organization. Naturally the past 18 months was not the appropriate time to get started with seeking an organization that could use my help. However, I recently made a connection with Friends of Cats, a nonprofit organization that cares for kittens and cats of all ages. Friends of Cats is a no-kill shelter and sanctuary located a bit east of San Diego.
I first got acquainted with Friends of Cats about 10 years ago when my daughter chose to do some of her high school community service there. She volunteered to spend time playing with and petting the cats which provided such wonderful socialization for these beautiful animals. From that time, I never forgot Friends of Cats and now I have the pleasure of photographing adoptable cats when I go to visit. It's my hope that my photography will help boost a cat's chance for finding their forever family. I also hope that my photography will enhance newsletters and other vehicles which might ultimately provide more visibility to the organization for much needed funding or more adoption opportunities.
For any of you who live in San Diego County and might be thinking about finding that special feline to join your family, I recommend Friends of Cats.
